After looking at the Swallowtail Shawl in my basket for weeks, I decided to rip it out. It’s not the pattern, it’s the yarn. I think this was Alpaca Cloud from KnitPicks. Just not my type of yarn.
I will make this shawl, but perhaps with something else. Maybe even some koigu sock yarn?
But, I will be giving this particular lace weight away to my friends at my knitting group.

It looks like at least you didn’t get too far before you had to frog it. I feel bad when you have a yarn mess up. You live too far from everything to be able to feel out the yarn first or run and grab something else.

If you don’t love the yarn, no reason to suffer through knitting with it. I personally don’t love alpaca so I’m right with you on passing it on. Koigu would be nice in a shawl. I made one with koigu once, but gave it away to my uncles wife. She thanked me for the “scarf”. 😉

It is too bad it isn’t for you. I bet fingering weight would make a great swallowtail shawl.
